AM Best has revised the outlooks to positive from stable and affirmed the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings (Long-Term ICR) of “a-” (Excellent) for the members of the AmTrust Group (AmTrust). At the same time, AM Best has affirmed the FSR of A- (Excellent) and Long-Term ICR of “a-” (Excellent) of AmTrust Title Insurance Company (AmTrust Title) (New York, NY). The outlook of the Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable. See below for a listing of all companies and ratings.
The ratings of AmTrust reflect its balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management (ERM).
The revision of AmTrust’s outlooks to positive reflects its market-leading position in the U.S. workers’ compensation segment, with the group being the third largest writer based on its 6% market share. AmTrust has 25 years of workers’ compensation experience and has focused on providing coverage to small businesses throughout the United States. AmTrust has developed underwriting expertise built around proprietary data, predictive modeling and more recently AI capabilities to drive targeted profitable results. AmTrust has a deep distribution network that is supporting high policy retention and profitable growth.
The company’s business profile also benefits from its geographic and product diversification. In addition to workers’ compensation coverage, the company offers specialty property and casualty insurance products, including businessowners policy, general liability, title, legal expense, medical malpractice, and extended service and warranty coverage. The products are sold in the United States and internationally.
The positive outlook considers AM Best’s expectation that AmTrust Group will continue to strengthen its position in the workers’ compensation market as well as expanding in other segments, while steadily growing surplus through organic growth. AmTrust’s balance sheet strength metrics showed improvement with risk-adjusted capitalization at the strongest level at mid-year 2026, as measured by Best Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR).
The ratings of AmTrust Title reflect its balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, limited business profile and appropriate ERM.
